The United States Coast Guard (USCG) issued a Preliminary Public Notice today requesting comments on the District of Columbia Department of Transportation’s (DDOT) proposal to replace the existing swing-type Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge over the Anacostia River with a new fixed bridge as part of the South Capitol Street Corridor Project. Comments are being requested from the standpoint of navigating the Anacostia River as it relates to the proposed fixed bridge at the existing bridge location.
The District and Maryland Departments of Transportation jointly re-advertised today for contractor bids on constructing the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens Segment of the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail with alternative design/construction criteria. All construction bids for the project received on August 6, 2013 were cancelled.
The District Department of Transportation’s (DDOT) Office of Civil Rights (OCR) is hosting a Contract Law for Federal Aid Projects Workshop Series. The workshops are free of charge and open to all DDOT/WMATA-certified DBE firms as well as other small business enterprises.

District Department of Transportation staff are reviewing Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) submitted by a number of design-build teams for construction for South Capitol Street Corridor Segments 1 and 2, which will be the largest project in agency history and includes replacement of the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge.
