***TRAFFIC ADVISORY***

Eastbound SE Freeway Reduced to Single Lane Condition Between 8th Street, SE and Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, January 22 – 25

As part of the 11th Street Bridge Project, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will reduce the eastbound SE Freeway to a single lane, between 8th Street, SE and Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, starting at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 22, 2013.  The lane closure will allow crews to prepare to start constructing bridge piers adjacent to the roadway for a new freeway bridge over the SE Freeway.  All lanes are scheduled to be reopened to traffic by 3 p.m. on January 25, 2013.

Beginning January 31, 2013 all eastbound lanes along this stretch will be closed to traffic for approximately 18-20 months while crews fill the roadway to restore it to the local street elevation.

Motorists seeking access to northbound DC-295 are advised to begin using the I-695 Outbound Freeway Bridge and newly constructed bridge ramp to northbound DC-295 to avoid possible commute delays and traffic congestion.

Electronic message signs will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the scheduled closure.

In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.
